Somewhat glaucous perennial, glabrous except for the glandular-villous inflorescence; fertile stems 1-3, (1%) 20-32 cm, erect or suberect, stout, simple, somewhat densely leafy throughout; sterile stems (O-) 1-9, decumbent to ascending. Leaves of fertile stems 14-30 (-35) x 3-8 (-13) mm, the length 2.5-6 (-10) x breadth, oblong to elliptic, acute, attenuate to semi- amplexicaul, flat, 1- to 3-veined, somewhat thick-textured, alternate; leaves of sterile stems similar but generally narrower. Inflorescence with 10-20 flowers, capitate or very dense in flower, dense in fruit, the axis sparsely villous. Bracts 3.5-5.5 mm, broadly elliptic, acute. Pedicels 1-2 mm in flower and fruit, erect, villous. Calyx-lobes unequal, villous, the margins not scarious; adaxial lobe 8-9 x 1.3-2 mm, linear-oblanceolate, acute; lateral lobes 4-6 x 1.4-2.5 (A)mm, ovate, obtuse or subobtuse. Corolla (21-) 25-32 mm, bright yellow, glabrous or sparsely glandular-puberulent externally; tube 6-8 mm broad at mouth; adaxial lip sinus 1.5- 2.5 mm; abaxial lip sinus 1.5-2 mm; spur (7-) 8-11 mm, 2-2.3 mm broad at base, straight, much shorter than rest of corolla. Capsule 4.6-8 x 5-7 mm, broadly ovoid, glabrous. Seeds 3-3.3 mm, oblong-reniform, dark brown; wing 0.6-0.9 mm broad; disc elongate-reniform, somewhat densely tuberculate or with few ridges; tubercles conical or laterally compressed forming short, radiating ridges.
