Glabrous, very glaucous perennial; fertile stems 1-10, 10-30 cm, suberect to ascending, much branched; sterile stems not seen. Leaves 4-13 x 2-10 mm, the length 1.2-2.2 x breadth, ovate or lanceolate-ovate, acute, flat, cuneate or lower leaves semi-amplexicaul, thick-textured, opposite or 3- or 4-verticillate below, alternate above. Inflorescence with 3-20 flowers, more or less dense in flower and fruit. Bracts 1-2 mm, linear, acute. Pedicels 1-4 mm in flower and fruit, erect. Calyx-lobes 1.6-2.5 x 0.5 -0.8 mm, oblong to lanceolate, acute. Corolla 9-12 mm, yellow; tube 1.5-2.2 mm broad; adaxial lip sinus 1-1.4 mm; abaxial lip sinus 1-1.6 mm; spur 4-6 mm, 0.6-1 mm broad at base, usually curved, subequalling or equalling rest of corolla. Capsule 2-3.5 x 2-3 mm, subglobose, glabrous. Seeds 1.1-1.5 mm, crescenti-trigonous or oblong-reniform, usually strongly compressed, black; longitudinal marginal ridges 2-3, 0.1-0.15 mm high, the intervening faces densely tuberculate or with anastomosed, sinuate ridges, the tubercles and ridges low, obtuse or truncate; periclinal walls of testa-cells tabular or tabular-concave, densely rugulate, without papillae.
