Glaucous, densely glandular-pubescent annual; fertile stems 4-8, (9-) 15-45 cm, decumbent to ascending, usually branched above; sterile stems 0-6. Leaves of fertile stems 5 -15 x 0.7-2.6 cm, linear to narrowly oblanceolate, acute or subobtuse, flat, the lowermost in whorls of 4-5, alternate above; leaves of sterile stems similar to those of fertile stems but somewhat narrower, in whorls of 4-5. Inflorescence with 2-10 flowers, somewhat dense in flower, very lax in fruit. Bracts 1-5 mm, linear, acute. Pedicels 0.5-1 mm in flower, 1-3 mm in fruit, erect. Calyx-lobes unequal, linear, acute; adaxial lobe 2-3 (-5) x 0.4-1.2 mm; abaxial lobes 1.5-2.5 (-3) x 0.4-0.6 mm. Corolla (12-) 15-18 mm, yellow with a darker palate; tube 2.5-3 mm broad; adaxial lip sinus 1.5-2 mm; abaxial lip sinus 0.7-1.2 mm; spur 6.5-9 (-10) mm, 1-1.5 mm broad at base, straight, shorter than to more or less equalling rest of corolla, often reddish-purple. Capsule 3-4 mm, oblong-ovoid, glandular-pubescent. Seeds 0.5-0.7 mm, reniform or compressed-trigonous, without marginal ridges, tuberculate and papillate, black; hilum narrow; tubercles low and rounded, more or less contiguous; periclinal wall oftesta-cells tabular, convex or papillate, densely verrucate; anticlinal walls of testa-cells angular with ridge over junction.
