Linaria genistifolia (L.) Miller, Gard. Dict. ed. 8: no. 14 (1768).

Glaucous perennial, glabrous or occasionally glandular-pubescent on calyces and capsules, reproducing vegetatively by rhizomes; fertile stems 1-numerous, 20-120 cm, erect or ascending, often branched above; sterile stems usually absent. Leaves of fertile stems acute, alternate. Bracts 3-6 mm, lanceolate, acute. Pedicels erect, 0.5-3 (-4) mm in flower, 3-5 (-8) mm in fruit. Calyx-lobes 3-5 (-6.5) x 0.8-1.2 (-2) mm, lanceolate to ovate, acute. Corolla usually yellow; adaxial lip sinus 0.8-2 mm; abaxial lip sinus 0.7-1.5 mm; spur straight or somewhat curved. Capsule 2.5-6 x 2.5-6.5 mm, subglobose, truncate or emarginate. Seeds (0.7-) 0.9-1.4 mm, crescenti-trigonous or tetrahedral, black or blackish-brown; longitudinal marginal ridges 0.1-0.15 mm high, obtuse to acute, the intervening faces with anastomosed ridges or ruminate-alveolate, sometimes with discrete tubercles; periclinal wall of testa-cells tabular or tabular-convex, densely rugulate to reticulate, that of cells from interstices and ridge-bases usually with median papilla, the papilla hemispherical or conical, rounded to subacute. Modified from Sutton (1988).
