Glaucous perennial, glabrous except for villous inflorescence; fertile stems 10-33 cm, erect, simple or branched above, more or less densely leafy throughout; sterile stems 0-3, ascending. Leaves 17-60 x 5-22 mm, the length 1.8-4.5 x breadth, oblong-lanceolate to ovate, acute, semi-amplexicaul, flat, glabrous or uppermost sparsely pilose, alternate. Inflorescence with 8-30 flowers, very dense in flower, more or less dense in fruit. Bracts 5-8 mm, linear, acute, sparsely villous below. Pedicels erect, villous, 1.5-3 mm in flower, 4-6 mm in fruit. Calyx-lobes subequal, 5-7 x 0.6-1.2 mm, linear-lanceolate or linear-oblong, acute or subacute, densely villous, the margins not scarious. Corolla 24-28 mm, yellow with orange palate, sparsely glandular-pilose externally; tube 5-7 mm broad at mouth; adaxial lip sinus 1.5-1.8 mm; abaxial lip sinus 0.8-1.2 mm; spur 12-13 mm, 1.5-2 mm broad at base, somewhat curved, more or less equalling rest of corolla. Capsule 5-9 x 4-8 mm, globose, glandular-pilose towards apex. Seeds 2.6-3.2 mm, oblong-reniform, black; wing 0.6-0.8 mm broad, somewhat thick-textured towards margin; disc elongate-reniform, smooth.
