Glaucous perennial, glabrous except for inflorescence; fertile stem solitary or rarely stems up to 5, (l0-) 25-35 (-50) cm, ascending to erect, simple or occasionally branched above, slender, sparsely leafy except for 1-4 cm below inflorescence; sterile stems absent. Leaves 13-35 x 0.5-1.7 mm, the length 20-35 x breadth, linear or filiform, acute, attenuate, flat or the uppermost canaliculate, alternate. Inflorescence with (3-) 10-20 flowers, lax or very lax in flower and fruit. Bracts 1.5-3.5 mm, linear, acute. Pedicels 1-3.5 (-5) mm in flower and fruit, erect or suberect. Calyx-lobes subequal, 2-3.5 x 0.7-1.1 mm, narrowly oblong to oblong-lanceolate, glandular-pubescent, glandular-ciliate or subglabrous, obtuse to subacute, the margin narrowly scarious, white. Corolla 16-22 mm, whitish-yellow with prominent bluish-purple veins, sometimes tinged with violet, the tube with 2 deep yellow marks, sparsely glandular-pubescent or sub-glabrous externally; tube (3-) 4-5 rnm broad at mouth; adaxial lip sinus 1-1.5 rnm; abaxial lip sinus 0.6-0.9 mm; spur (5-) 8-10 mm, 1.2-1.5 mm broad at base, slender, straight or somewhat curved, acute, subequalling or shorter than rest of corolla. Capsule 4-5.5 x 4-5.5 mm, globose or oblong-globose, glabrous. Seeds 2.6-3 mm, oblong-reniform, black with blackish-grey wing, shiny; wing 0.5-0.8 mm broad; disc elongate-reniform, smooth.
