Glaucous perennial, glabrous except for glandular-puberulent inflorescence; fertile sterns 1-numerous, 30-60 cm, arcuate-ascending to suberect, virgate, branched above; sterile stems absent. Leaves of fertile sterns (18-) 40-80 x (3-) 5-10 mm, the length 5-8 x breadth, linear-lanceolate to oblong, acute, attenuate, somewhat fleshy, more or less flat, alternate. Inflorescence with numerous flowers, more or less dense in flower and fruit. Bracts 1.5-2 mm, linear-subulate, acute. Pedicels 1-2.5 mm in flower and fruit, erect or erecto-patent. Calyx-lobes equal, 3-4.5 x 0.7-1 mm, linear, subacute to obtuse, the margin narrowly scarious, white. Corolla 15-19 mm, dull whitish-yellow with deeper yellow palate and violet veins; tube 4.5-5 mm broad at mouth; adaxial lip sinus 0.8-1.1 mm; abaxial lip sinus 0.6-1 mm; spur 5-7 (-9) mm, 1.2-1.5 mm broad at base, more or less straight, much shorter than rest of corolla. Capsule 5-8.5 x 4-7 mm, subglobose glabrous. Seeds 1.7-2 mm, oblong-reniform, black, shiny; wing 0.3-0.5 mm broad, slightly inflated; disc tuberculate or with some ridges; tubercles low, rounded or anastomosed to form short, radiating ridges.
